Vernelsberg estate, completely secluded on the river Geul in a vast green landscape
We are proud to present Landgoed Vernelsberg, completely detached on the river Geul in a vast green landscape. This is the only triangular farmhouse in the Netherlands so far known, built on a topped rock: the Vernelsberg. The Estate is surrounded by its sloping garden and fruit orchard on a plot of over 5 hectares.
In the southernmost tip of the Netherlands, this national monument stands peacefully and harmoniously in an almost sacred landscape. The farm is completely isolated and seems like its own kingdom, resiliently standing up through all the storms of time. The farm was built around 1750 with a foundation that was already laid in the early Middle Ages. The complex consisted of a house with horse stables, a cow shed, a baking house and a large barn. These wings around the triangular courtyard were constructed from quarry stone and half-timbering. Hoeve Vernelsberg has been carefully restored and very respectfully and tastefully furnished. The former agricultural buildings were developed into comfortable guest rooms and offer a wonderful stay with 11 guest rooms and 1 apartment, all with their own luxurious bathroom. The large barn has been converted into a breathtaking reception room where the entire group can gather for dinner and recreation. The space is finished with authentic, ecological building materials. Beneficial peace and beauty radiate from Vernelsberg farm, it forms a rock in the surf in many ways.
